The Great Gatsby Soundtrack (Sampler)
In hopes of hyping up Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby even more, Interscope has released a sampler for the film’s Jay-Z-produced soundtrack, featuring 30 second clips of all but two of the album’s tracks. Excluded for now are Jay-Z’s “100& Bill” and Beyonce and Andre 3000′s Amy Winehouse cover, “Back To Black.” Still, we can hear new music from the star studded list of contributors including The xx, Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Jack White, Nero and will.i.am, who’s “Bang Bang” is still surrounded in controversy. Also included is the full stream of Fergie, Q-Tip and Goon Rock’s contribution, “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got).”

Following believable (kind of) news that Daft Punk, Phoenix, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Rolling Stones would be headlining Coachella next year, an entire 2013 lineup has surfaced featuring the aforementioned headliners along with Deadmau5, Missy Elliot, Lana Del Rey, Boys Noize, Fiona Apple, The Prodigy, Passion Pit and The xx and more. The dates have a similar format to last year, and include the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21.
Now, as you’ve likely noticed, Coachella rumors have been a trending topic throughout the blogosphere this year. What we do know for sure is that Coachella announced the official 2012 lineup on Monday, January 9th, meaning regardless if this leak is rumor or reality, the official 2013 details should be revealed shortly.

UPDATE 1: Archie, gLAdiator and Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman (among other artists) all came out and said they were NOT scheduled to play at Coachella this year, confirming what most of us feared: this lineup is (at least partially) fake. Sorry guys.

Bastille feat. Ella – No Angels (The xx vs. TLC)
Simply put, Bastille’s reworked mashup-cover of The xx’s “Angels” and TLC’s “No Scrubs” is stuff of legend.
Taken off the London quartet’s film-inspired mixtape, Other People’s Heartache, Pt. 2, “No Angels” opens with and incorporates lines from the movie ‘Psycho’ on it’s way to re-imagining TLC’s Grammy Award-winning smash in a way that you never saw coming. When Ella comes on around the 1:33 mark, the entire dynamic of the song changes, creating this incredible back and forth that gives “No Scrubs” a climax you certainly won’t find in the original version.

Four Tet – Lion (Jamie xx Remix)
Delicately minimal. Playfully emotional. Unquestionably breathtaking. All of these things describe the complex seven minute journey that is Jamie xx’s new Four Tet remix. In this stripped down version of “Lion,” sound seems to fade in and out of complete nonexistence, leaving you to wonder what may emerge from the darkness next. At it’s playful beginnings, the mood is almost as if you’re trapped in a cave level of Super Mario Bros., but once the song hits full stride, it transforms into something too beautiful for words.

The xx – Chained (Official Video)
Directed by Young Replicant, The xx’s “Chained” video was made through The Creators Project, a partnership between Intel and Vice, and fits the Coexist mantra exactly. Soak in the slow motion underwater ambiance below, or track back and download Panic City’s superb remix of the track.
The xx – Fiction (Synapson Remix)
The bare bones of The xx’s Coexist album have been begging for remixes since their release back on September 11th, and French duo Synapson are one of many producers to deliver that extra bit of juice the quiet original pieces were missing. Their simple but effective version of “Fiction” ought to make a great addition to your never ending list of refurbished xx.
