Remixes of Lana Del Rey‘s ”Young and Beautiful” have been piling up on SoundCloud at an alarming rate over the past couple of weeks. Since posting the Kulkid remix, I’ve bit my tongue on about six more in hopes that one supreme mix would arise to outshine the rest, and today I think we’ve finally found our man.
Marcus Schossow’s shimmery “Summer” house rework channels all the nostalgic emotion emitted from the Great Gatsby original, resulting in a warm and uplifting festival crowd please that should make its rounds for months to come. Listen in full and grab a free download below.
Unreleased Lana Del Rey tracks can be hit or miss. We’re never sure where exactly they come from, if they’re new or old, throwaway demos or future singles. Regardless of what “Queen of Disaster” becomes though, I can’t get enough of this tune. The bouncy throwback tempo is just right, the songwriting is vintage Lana, and that little whisper at 1:35 makes the whole song. This girl is just too perfect.
Lana Del Rey – Queen of Disaster
Adorned with shimmering hoop earrings and jeweled tears, Lana Del Rey is as Lana Del Rey as ever in the new video for her Great Gatsby single, “Young and Beautiful.” The VHS-looking clip was directed Chris Sweeney and shot by Sophie Muller, and uses the Dan Heath orchestral version of the song as opposed to the original mix. Watch below, and look out for what we’ll call a perfect smile around the 40 second mark.
Lana Del Rey – Young and Beautiful
And just like that, we’ve already got a noteworthy remix of the new Lana Del Rey / Great Gatsby track, “Young and Beautiful” (like you weren’t expecting it). The original song is this reflective story of youth, love and beauty, clearly written for the cynical and superficial Daisy. Kulkid‘s remix impeccably maintains that vibe, moving the pace of the instrumental up a few decades from the 20s to the 80s with a synth-focused disco-house bounce. Grab the free download below.
After a trailer preview and a 30-second snippet, we’ve now got the full version of Lana Del Rey‘s “Young & Beautiful” off The Great Gatsby soundtrack. The song is available to download on iTunes now, provided that you pre-order the album, which also includes the Dan Heath orchestral version of “Young and Beautiful” that’s included after the break.
In hopes of hyping up Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby even more, Interscope has released a sampler for the film’s Jay-Z-produced soundtrack, featuring 30 second clips of all but two of the album’s tracks. Excluded for now are Jay-Z’s “100& Bill” and Beyonce and Andre 3000′s Amy Winehouse cover, “Back To Black.” Still, we can hear new music from the star studded list of contributors including The xx, Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Jack White, Nero and will.i.am, who’s “Bang Bang” is still surrounded in controversy. Also included is the full stream of Fergie, Q-Tip and Goon Rock’s contribution, “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got).”
Listen below and find The Great Gatsby soundtrack in stores May 7, three days before the movie’s release.
