Watch Calvin Harris’ Controversial Music Video for “Drinking From the Bottle” (NSFW)

Calvin Harris - Drinking From the Bottle video 2

The Internet was ablaze this apocalyptic morning as more and more viewers pressed play on the new and very NSFW video for Calvin Harris’ sixth 18 Months single, “Drinking From the Bottle.” The plot centers around, you guessed it, The Devil, who interacts with a number of individuals (including Harris and Tinie Tempah) throughout what ends up turning into a monologue inclusive, 5 minute and 34 second short film.

Aside from it’s main character, themes of sex, drugs and alcohol are at the forefront, causing some fans to question what they just watched. On Facebook, Nick Cosma wrote, “long time fan, I often come here and tell you that you’re my favorite artist of all time, but the more you share garbage like this, the more I hope the world ends tonight,” followed by Ellyse Sanabria who added, “that video was so tacky, tasteless, and misogynistic!” Things don’t get much better on YouTube, where comments mostly range from “WTF” to “awesome song, shit video,” along with the occasional satanist and Illuminati allegation.

There are plenty of similarly-themed explicit videos floating around on YouTube (staying in EDM, take Borgore’s “Flex,” Swedish House Mafia & Knife Party’s “Antidote,” or Skrillex & Wolfgang Gartner’s “The Devil’s Den” for example), so without beating a dead horse, I think issue in this case is based around Calvin Harris’ more family-friendly track record that includes videos like “Bounce,” “Feel So Close,” and “Sweet Nothing.”

Do you think Harris crossed the line in “Drinking From the Bottle,” or does the video simply push the limits of creativity. Watch below and leave your opinions in the comments.
