Mumford & Sons, Fun. & Frank Ocean Dominate The 2013 Grammy Award Nominations

The 2013 Annual Grammy Award Nominees have been announced, and as always, there’s plenty to talk about. Fun., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean and Kanye West dominate this year’s slate with six nominations each, followed closely by the Black Keys and Miguel with five, and Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift with four and three nominations respectively.
Teen idols One Direction, PSY, Justin Bieber and The Wanted were all (thankfully) left out of the picture, with the exception of Carly Rae Jepsen and her viral sensation ”Call Me Maybe,” which has a chance to take home Song Of The Year honors.
Avicii, Skrillex, Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Kaskade will all be battling it out in the electronic dance categories, with “Levels” being the slight favorite over “Don’t You Worry Child” for Best Dance Recording. The Best Remixed Recording award (which you’ll have to scroll down for) is definitely one of note this year, as it’s comprised of names like Axwell, Tommy Trash, Eric Prydz and Nero. Another notable name in dance music, Diplo, is up for Non-Classical Producer Of The Year up against Fun.’s Jeff Bhasker, The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Mumford & Sons / Coldplay’s Markus Dravs.
Also, this Rebecca Black impersonation from Al Walser was nominated for Best Dance Recording…seriously…
…what?
The hip hop / R&B side of things seems pretty straightforward in 2013, although how 2 Chainz’ Based On A T.R.U. Story was nominated for Rap Album Of The Year is quite frankly beyond me.
One thing to note before diving in to the nominations, the cutoff date for this years awards was September 30th.
