Keep Calm and Be Free (4th of July Playlist)

Ironically modeled after the British “Keep Calm and Carry On” poster, Keep Calm and Be Free is probably the most eclectic mix I’ve ever put together. While it’s anchored by the Independence Day-themed openers of The Dean’s List’s “American,” Radical Something’s “Freedom,” and Lana Del Rey’s “National Anthem,” this playlist is certainly not intended to be played once on Wednesday and forgotten.
It’s not my official summer tape (which is in the works), but you’ll still find plenty of summer vibes throughout with tracks from favored up and comers like Skizzy Mars, Hoodie Allen, and Timeflies, alongside solidified classics from the likes of Notorious B.I.G., MGMT, and Mark Morrison. It’s got nearly every genre and emotion covered, but manages to come together for a surprisingly cohesive 35-song, 2.4 hour ride that’s perfect for a mid-afternoon outdoor setting.
Unfortunately I had to split up the download into two parts, which inevitably means part 2 will receive less downloads than part 1 (no idea why this happens, I guess you guys are just lazy and don’t want free music). I didn’t take this into account when organizing the tracklist however (which if you ever notice is almost always in a specific order for all my playlists), so I would highly advise you to snag both parts and put them in order if you want to get the full effect.
With that, I hope you all have some memorable 4th of July’s filled with Budweisers, grills, and good company…just remember what we’re celebrating, and Keep Calm and Be Free.
